Mary Jo Marasco
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Jo Marasco of Cecil, PA on October 30, 2024, at 59 years old, surrounded by her loving family at home. A devoted mother, wife, and friend, she spent her 5 and a half years bravely fighting stage 4 pancreatic cancer with a courage that inspired everyone who knew her.
She leaves behind her two beloved children, Anthony and Angelina, who were the center of her world, and her husband of 26 years, John, whose love and support never wavered. Mary Jo was the youngest daughter of the late Joseph and Marie Slobodnyak Talpas. She also leaves behind her siblings Carole Coon of Washington, Nancy (Jack) Passante of Virginia, David (Vicky) Talpas of Washington, Kevin (Lynettte) Talpas of Canonsburg, and Diane (Ron) Taylor of South Carolina as well as a sister-in-law Donna (David) Fowler of Jamestown, NY, many nieces and nephews and her faithful dog Maxx.
Mary Jo found joy in the simple pleasures of life: baking, gardening, puzzles, playing dominoes and cards, porch talk with neighbors, traveling and swimming. She was a frequent and happy visitor to Walmart and yard sales, always finding a treasure to share with family and friends. The sun seemed to shine brighter when she was near it, just as her love illuminated the lives of those around her.
Though her battle with cancer was long and difficult, she defied the odds and fought with a tenacity that was nothing short of heroic. Her spirit lives on in the cherished memories of her family and friends, and in the hearts of Anthony and Angelina, who will carry her love with them always.
Abiding to her wishes there will be no viewing. A Celebration of her life was held this preceeding week as her friends and family visited her home, no further services will be held.
