Virginia Mary Semenick

Virginia Mary Semenick, 94 years old of McDonald, known by many as " Nanny or Jean" died August 6, 2023 in her home surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born August 4, 1929 in Colliers, WV, daughter of the late Ambrose and Alma Romitti Ghelfi, who immigrated from Italy. She was the last remaining sibling.

She worked in the dietary department at Mayview State Hospital for 25 years, until her retirement. She loved her dog, Devan. She enjoyed going to the casino with her daughters Karen and Tina and son-in-law Frank, baking with her granddaughter, Carrie, making pizzelles with son Gary, gardening, listening to Italian Music, and watching Steeler and Pirate games on TV.

Surviving are daughters Karen "Cookie" (Frank) Shinshasky, and Charlotte "Tina" Huchko both of McDonald, sons Gary Semenick of Ely, MN; and Richard "Tiny" (Bonnie) Semenick of Hendersonville, NC. Also surviving are grandchildren Carrie (Vernon) Holley, Brian (Shannon) Huchko, Jennifer Huchko, Rachael (Danny) Doern, Rebecca (Robert) MacPharland, Renee (Keisuke) Mochizuki, and Richard (Ashley) Semenick along with numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Sharon Semenick, her brother Louis "Pauley" Ghelfi, and sisters Eleanor Ghelfi, Margaret "Che Che" Semenick, and Annie Monticello.

Friends will be received Wednesday, August 9, 2023 from 2-4 and 6-8PM in the Coleman-Taylor Funeral Services 3378 Millers Run Road, Cecil,PA 15321 where a blessing services will be held on Thursday, August 10 at 10:00 AM.

Interment will follow in Mt. Prospect Cemetery.
