John L. Fotheringham, Sr.

John (Jack) L. Fotheringham, Sr.  99, of Presbyterian Senior Care, passed away peacefully November 10, 2022 with his loving daughter at his side.  Jack was born November 26, 1922 in Connellsville, PA, the son of the late Charles A. Fotheringham and Mary Margaret Keffer Fotheringham.   He was a kind and gentle soul devoted to his family and friends.  Preceding him in death was his wife Ellen, his only son, John L. Fotheringham, Jr. who died in 1980, while serving in the U.S. Air Force, his daughter, Anita Jean Fotheringham Beam, who died in an airplane crash in 1984.  Also deceased are his brother Phillip Fotheringham and sister Kathryn Ferry and son-in-law, Edward A. Kovacik, Sr.

Jack was a proud veteran having served his country in the U.S. Army.  He worked for more than 30 years for U.S. Steel and also for many years after in the housekeeping department at Mon Valley Hospital.  He was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Church and volunteered for several years cutting grass at the church cemetery.  He enjoyed playing pool, cards and spending time with his family. He was also a long-time member of the American Legion.

Surviving are his daughter, Kathleen Kovacik,  Daughter-in-law, Luanne Zolnoski and husband Lynn,  eight grandchildren:  Edward A. Kovacik, Jr., Daniel J. Kovacik, Steven M. Kovacik and wife Lacey ,Retired Major John Eric Fotheringham, and wife Karrie,  Brenda Fotheringham Bussio and husband Jake , Alfred B. Beam, Jr., and wife, Denise, Brian R. Beam and David J. Beam, 11 great grandchildren,  Amber M. Kovacik , Carlie M. Kovacik, Ellie K. Kovacik, Austin R. Kovacik,  Dakota G. Kovacik, Victoria Fotheringham Tucker,  J. Alexander Fotheringham, Samantha Fotheringham, Chase Woody, Ari Woody, and Gabrielle Bussio. Jack has one great, great granddaughter, Kalani Tucker.  Also surviving are his sister, Olive Mae D’Isidoro, and special nephews, J. Thomas Savage and the late David D’Isdoro, his wife Patty D’Isidoro survives, and many other nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 15, from 3-7 PM at Coleman-Taylor Funeral Services 3378 Millers Run Road, Cecil, A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday Nov. 16 in St. Oscar Romero Parish, Holy Rosary Church, Muse, at 10:00 AM. Those attending are asked to meet at the Church.
