John James Cherokee Jr.

John James Cherokee Jr., 80 years old of Canonsburg, died May 24, 2024 in his home after a long battle with Luekemia.

 He was born March 27, 1944 in Cecil, Son of the late John and Mercedes Wiltz Cherokee, Sr.

John worked at McGraw-Edison in many departments and was a barber for 50 years in East End Canonsburg at John's Barber Shop.

 He was a member of Corpus Christi Parish, St. Mary Church, Cecil, Falcon Archers, Muse Italian Club, and Canonsburg Sportsmen's Club. John enjoyed hunting especially trips to Montana, he had many deer and antlers mounted. He also enjoyed fishing, camping and just being outdoors. He liked oldies and country music and was an avid Pirates Fan.

 Surviving are wife of 53 years, Linda Cheroke of Canonsburg; cousins Mariann (Glenn) Gauthier of Cecil; Donald (Kim) Steiner of Imperial; Patrick Moody of Ambridge; and JoAnn (Bill) Andrews of Cecil; sisters-in-law Amy (Steve) Springfield; and Carol Winter both of Canonsburg; Cindy Lewis of Houston; Shari (Tom) O'Rourke of Cecil; Tammy (Robert) Miller of Muse; brothers-in-law Anthony R. Zupancic of Cecil; and Mike(Carla) Zupancic of Moon Twp. and many nieces and nephews.

 He was preceded in death by his parents, aunt and uncle who raised him, Margaret and Pete Levkulich, cousin Pauline Moody, nieces Lindsay Seinico Estep, and Melissa Lynn O'Rourke

 Friends will be received 2-4 and 6-8 PM, Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at Coleman-Taylor Funeral Services, 3378 Millers Run Road, Cecil, where prayers of transfer will be said at 9:30 am Thursday, May 30 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary Church, Cecil.

 Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
